LOKAHI MISSION

The purpose of Lokahi Fishing is to make fishing more fun while making a difference in our fisheries by connecting fishermen to fishermen and fishermen to fish! The Lokahi App is here to support Hawaii’s Fishing community created by Fishermen for Fishermen. Download the Lokahi App today and do your part in helping to collect important fishery data. The data collected will help scientists make better management decisions to sustain our resources for generations.

The Lokahi App has many features such as being able to create your own private database in the cloud, allow you to connect with friends or groups of friends of your choice. See what others might be catching, find out the latest wind, tide, and moon information. Get the latest tournament results or perhaps click on informative “How to” fishing videos and much more. LOKAHI VIRTUAL APP DEEP BOTTOM FISH TOURNAMENT

Lokahi Virtual App Deep Bottom Fish Tournament (VAT). Enter now, “No Entry Fee”, just download and use the Lokahi App to enter your fish. All Hawaii fishermen are eligible to participate in the first of its kind virtual bottom fish tournament. Categories will be: Onaga, Opakapaka, Uku and other bottom fish or mystery species category. At the end of each month there will be a random weight drawn for each fish category Onaga, Opakapaka, Uku and other bottom fish. and a random effort in hours for the “Nice Try Award” or white wash category. Monthly winners will be notified by a Lokahi VAT committee member and posted on the Lokahi Tournament button. The more fish you catch and enter the better your chances are of winning a monthly prize and a Certificate of Achievement with your full name and a picture of your species of fish hand drawn by renowned marine artist Les Hata. In addition, there will be random Annual Grand Prizes drawn at the end of the year so even if you don’t win a monthly prize you are still eligible to win the Grand Prize for submitting your catch; commenting or liking a post. A fun tournament where anyone can be a winner!

"HOW TO GET STARTED"

  1. First go to the App Store, Google Play, or website then download the free “Lokahi Fishing App” on your phone or tablet.
  2. Review and click accept on the “Lokahi Virtual App Tournament Rules & Regulations” now you are registered and ready to go fishing and start entering your fish.
  3. No entry fees.
  4. Play with the app and have fun with it. Fill out your profile including your first and last name, download the marine map, send friend requests, learn how to submit a catch report, and post on photo sharing.

"TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS"

  1. Qualifying fish include the following categories; Jacks (Ulua and Papio), Oio and other species category (whatever you catch/keep or release) and no catch “Nice Try Award”.
  2. Only entrants registered with the “Lokahi App” qualify for the tournament. You must use the Lokahi App to fill out a Local Catch Report including the fish species, weight, effort and a photo as well as post on Photo Sharing to qualify your tournament fish. You must fill out a Local Catch Report with your effort in hours to qualify for the no catch “Nice Try Award”. Each fish entered will be eligible for a prize and a LOKAHI Virtual App Tournament Certificate determined by a random weight to be drawn on the second Wednesday of the following month. The “Nice Try Award” will be determined by a random effort in hours. Fishermen that win a prize will be notified by Lokahi VAT staff and posted on the Tournament Button as well as on Photo Sharing.
  3. Estimated weight or scaled weight will be allowed to be entered. In case of a tie, the scaled fish will prevail.
  4. To qualify for the monthly drawing your fish or no catch report must be entered from the first of the designated month up to 3 days past the end of that month. Example: Post by August 3rd for your catch caught on July 31.
  5. Fish can be caught on rod and reel, handline, hook and line, or by spear.
  6. Shark bite or damaged fish will still qualify for the tournament. You must attach a photograph when you submit your catch report.
  7. Fishermen must be from Hawaii to participate.
  8. All fish must be caught in Hawaiian waters.
  9. Multiple Fish Entry: Submit your biggest fish as your tournament entry and submit the rest of the species as a multiple for that day. For example: 4 White Ulua/Papio caught weighing 20, 15, 10 and 5 pounds. Submit the 20 by itself under White Ulua then submit the 15, 10 and 5 as a multiple; White Ulua; 3 pieces; 30 pounds total weight.

PROTESTS OR DISPUTES

All ties will be decided by the Lokahi VAT committee.

RELEASE AND INDEMNITY

RELEASE AND INDEMNITY having received, read and understood a copy of the same, the undersigned hereby agrees to comply and abide with all the rules and regulations of the Lokahi Virtual App Tournament. I understand that participating in a fishing tournament may be dangerous and could result in personal injury, including death, as well as loss of property. On behalf of myself, my heirs, and personal representatives, I hereby assume the risk of participating in the tournament and hereby release, indemnify and hold Lokahi Fishing, LLC, the Lokahi App, the Lokahi VAT, each of its members, sponsors, and contributors from any and all property damage and injuries, including death, which I or my crew may suffer in connection, or as a result of my participation in the Lokahi VAT. I hereby consent, give and grant to Lokahi VAT, its affiliates, successors and assigns, and those acting under its permission or upon its authority without reservation, the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, freely transferable, royalty-free, full and unrestricted right and permission to take, make, record, copyright, use, re-use, publish, republish, publicly perform, broadcast, transmit, display, adapt, sell, rent or upload audiovisual works, phono records, photographic portraits or pictures of me or in which I may be included, in whole or in part, or composite or distorted in character or form, without restriction as to changes or alterations, in conjunction with my name, a fictitious name, or no name, in all media now known or hereafter invented, and in all channels of trade, together with the right to use the same alone, or incorporated with other materials or works, even though the same may subject me to embarrassment, ridicule or scorn. I waive any right to receive any royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of such works, and I hereby assign all copyright rights and other rights I may have therein to Lokahi VAT.
